Summer Reading Challenge – Leicester Libraries
Dear all,
Marvellous Makers is this year鈥檚 summer reading challenge with Leicester libraries.
The challenge encourages children to use their local library and maintain their reading habit through the long summer break and aims to mitigate the dip in performance associated with a long break from reading, that many children experience in the new school year.
Starting Saturday 29 June until the 15 September, children aged 0 to 15 years can sign up to take part and complete the six-book challenge. 听A prize of 拢100 of books will be awarded to the Leicester school with the highest percentage of children finishing the challenge (numbers recorded by Leicester libraries staff).
听In Leicester, we also have a challenge for adults to promote good role modelling. 听Adults, you can participate by reading six books for a chance to win 拢30 worth of books!
Leicester libraries鈥 offer is enhanced with a range of free activities for the whole family, all designed to promote reading for pleasure and the joy of sharing books and stories.
There is a to encourage your pupils to take part in the challenge.
For further information about our full programme of activities please visit .
We hope you will join us in encouraging your children to keep reading this summer.

Please remember to state your child鈥檚 full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.听
All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child鈥檚 academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.听听听
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.听听听
This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.听
