We鈥檙e delighted to share some exciting news from Govinda鈥檚, our Avanti catering team. Ajay Kumar, Managing Director of Govinda鈥檚, has been invited by the Department for Education (DfE) to join their Food School Team Advisory Board

The Food School Team鈥疊oard gives advice to the DfE and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) on possible updates to the School Food Standards. Their goal is to make sure school meals are in line with the latest nutrition guidance and to explore how they can be made even better.

At his very first meeting in July, Ajay spoke about how Govinda鈥檚 runs a vegetarian and vegan-only school catering service. The group was especially interested in how Govinda鈥檚 provides balanced, nutritious meals that work for all pupils.

“We feed over 1 million vegetarian school meals a year which shows what鈥檚 possible,” says Ajay. “This appointment is a wonderful opportunity for Govinda鈥檚 to share our experience of delivering tasty, plant-based meals on a large scale, and to make sure vegetarian and vegan options are well understood and represented in schools nationwide.”
